Off we go

Just wanted to tell everyone bye and I'll miss you. :) Seems silly to say since I live thousands of miles away from all of you anyways, but since we'll be on vacation this next week, I probably won't get the chance to check blogs or post so I'll miss everyone. But have no fear, I'll make it up to you with pictures from the trip when we get back. :) Until then, you are in my thoughts and prayers! Jesus loves you.

You know your a mom when...

Ok this blog is not for those with weak stomachs! Continuing on with the saga of Caleb's sickness...The doctor told me that the anitbiotics Caleb is on may, "make his stools a little loose". Ok that was the understament of the century!!! So it's just about 8 a.m. and we have to be out the door by 8:30 to get Kaden to pre-school on time. I've got Kaden's breakfast cooking and Caleb stripped to his diaper and playing in the living room with some toys (stripped because he's so messy when he eats that he kept staining all of his clothes). It's time to get Caleb into his chair so I can feed him breafast. I pick him up put him in my left arm and take three steps on to the tile and feel a warm oozing wet sensation all over my arm and then hear plop plop plop. My first thought is how is he throwing up down his back...and then I looked. My arm and his back and the floor is covered in green slimy poop. Yeah...you can stop reading now if you want! So my first reaction is to panic. I mean poop is everywhere and to get to Caleb's room I have to walk over the carpet. But I have to get to the clean diapers. So doing my best to contain all the poop on Caleb and my arm I run to his room and set him on the changing table where Caleb proceeds to stick his fingers in his diaper and then start touching everything he can; the table, the wall, the wipes etc. I'm doing my best to get my arm cleaned up so I can begin cleaning him up. I enden up throwing away two changing pads and a whole mess of wipes away there was no salvaging anything. By this time Kaden's breakfast needs to be finished and it's 8:10. I start running bathwater because Caleb has it in his hair and he's just gross. I carry Caleb into the kitchen put him into his bouncy seat, finish breakfast for Kaden, clean the floor as best I can, spray down his changing table and wall with antibacterial stuff, get Caleb and get him into the bath. I quickly take off his diaper and plop him in the tub only to discover that he's gone yet again! Now there's poop in the water and all over the back of his tub chair...So I let the water out and just start washing him with running water. I get him out of the tub and Kaden's done with breakfast. Get Caleb dried and dressed and look at the clock...it's only 8:20 we've got time to spare! :) So after I got back from dropping Kaden off I still had to scrub the tub but other then that the mess was preety contained before we left. Fortunatly, I think he's done pooping for today! :) So you know your a mom when there's poop running down your arm and onto the floor and you're the only one around to clean it up! :)

Tuesday Night

Today is my mom's Birthday! Yeah! Happy Birthday Mom! So we went to their house for dinner, presents (which Kaden opened), and cake (which Kaden blew out) and just a general happy time. Of course, I forgot my camera. :) But on the way home I asked Kaden if he knew how old Grandma was. He says no so I tell him and he goes, "Wow that's really tall! We should measure her sometime!" :) So I guess in his mind the older you are the taller you are! :) And least he didn't say wow that's really heavy! :)

Monday Night

I took Caleb to the doctor early Monday morning to see if we could get on top of this cold. They did prescribe some anitbiotics but more for the sore he has on his finger which may be infected...how did he get a sore on his finger...by rubbing it raw against his new top tooth. You'd think he'd stop if it hurt but apparently it's worth the pain! So while I was at the doctor they kindly reminded me that he was overdue for his second dose of the flu shot...so feeling guilty we got it....NEVER AGAIN. I say that every time but really why is it a good idea to inject yourself with a live flu virus in hopes that you may come in contact with that exact flu virus somewhere out in the big world...and not the million of other flu virus forms that are out there that you haven't been protected from. And every time one of us gets the flu shot...guess what...we get sick from it...go figure. Shoot a virus into your blood and get sick...what a concept. So I'm done with the flu shot. And so we had a very fussy Monday night and most of the day Tuesday...except when he was sleeping. Which brings us to the picture, he was so fussy Monday night and just wanted to be held. So I held him and rubbed my fingers through his hair to make him feel better...hence the mohawk! :) He's cute even when he's sick!

Sunday nights

We had a lazy Sunday (yeah!) and had family movie night last night. We're trying to show Kaden as many Disney movies as we can before Disneyland, so last night we watched Cinderella. At the end of the movie Kaden said, "When we get to Mickey's house I'm going to hug Cinderella...and if she loses her shoe I'll put it on for her!" :) And then I was in the kitchen doing the dishes and singing the Cinderella song and Matt told Kaden to come in and tell me that I sounded just like Cinderella. So Kaden comes in and says "Hey, what are you doing!" turns around and tells Matt, "Yeah, I just said hey what are you doing."...What goes through their minds! :) Oh, and the picture is of Kaden balancing on the couch coushins (sp?) after Matt decided he needed to vacuume out the couch! :)

Correction

So now reading through your comments, I can see how my last blog may have been a bit confusing! :) No, we are not expecting any babies at this time! :) Two is keeping my busy enough! However, in the future we would love to have more children...don't worry I'll keep you posted! :)
And while I'm on here...Jody, I loved the picture of you in your warm up suit! And all your pictures of Chicago...made me homesick. Brooke, I hope that Hope is feeling better by now...Caleb also has a lingering cold combined with teething...never a fun time. Beth, Hey...can't think of anything to say but I love you! Amanda, I like your new phone and hope you are able to get your money raised for the 5k! Wish I could join you.
And if I forgot anyone this time...sorry...I always think of these witty comments :) but then the computer never works and by the time I type them on here they're gone...funny how I seem to be forgetting more and more! Oh well...you all will be around to help me by the time I'm senial! :)

Booster Seat

So I'm tired of cleaning the highchair...not only is it big and cumbersome, but no matter how much I wipe it down there's always a spot that I miss...and mashed carrots just isn't an appealing mess. Plus the highchair has a cloth seat which always looks dirty no matter how much it's scrubbed up. So I went and bought a booster seat for Caleb. He looks like such a big boy sitting up at the table with us. The only negative is the booster seat has a super small tray so most of his food ends up on the floor, but it is easier to clean so I'm happy! :) And yes, these pictures are taken in the living room and no he doesn't eat in there it's just where I got it set up and he tried it out for the first time.

Other then that, not to much happening in south Texas. I'm counting the days until we leave for California (9) Yeah! And by then Matt's big inspection should be over at work so hopefully that will relieve alot of stress. I had a good day yesterday, while Kaden was at preschool I got a sitter for Caleb and got three hours of shopping all by myself! Yeah...so much fun! Even if it was Walmart and JC Penney it was nice. :) I can't seem to think of much else to ramble about and I still need to give the highchair one final wipe down before it's put back in storage...why keep it in storage? Cause even though I don't like it I'm sure we'll use it for the next baby too! :)

Wake Up

So it's been a very restful Sunday here at the Van Hook house...well restful after helping dad cook over 200 hamburgers and hotdogs for the fellowship meal at church...and then cleaning up! :) But the afternoon has been restful with naps for everyone. I woke up to here Caleb saying, "Ba, Ba, Ba, Ba, Ba.....Ba,.....Ba"etc (Which I'm starting to believe means "poopy, poopy, poopy, I'm poopy." cause ever time he wakes up saying "ba" he's poopy. Anyways) and I went in there and Caleb had pulled up the crib bumper and wedged himself underneath it trying to get to the door so he could see who was coming to get him. :) I guess that's why they are a potential danger! :) Hope your Sunday is restful too!

To the Moon

Just wanted to share some pictures of the boys in their matching rocket pajamas! :) (Thanks Julie) These were taken right at bed time so Caleb wouldn't sit still for anything and we were lucky to get the smiles that we did. But enjoy anyways!

Home Improvment

Matt and Jeremy were hard at work today on the house! They did an awesome job putting in a cobblestone walkway up to the house. I'm so proud of them. Thought I'd show off their handiwork. And yes we forgot to take the before pictures...so all you get is the after! :)

Hey

Just wanted to say Hey...."Hey"...ok now that's out of my system. Not to much going on in South Texas. Another gorgeous day...sorry to all you Northeners...not trying to rub it in! Beth, sure wish Emmalee could come ride her bike down here! And teach Kaden...we haven't ventured into big bikes yet maybe it's time! And she looks so beautiful, I loved, loved the pictures even with mascarra all over her face! :) ( and yes I tried to leave a comment, but wouldn't you know it wouldn't let me...again)
Matt's on his way home (it's almost 10pm) so that's exciting. Kaden and I are planning on hitting the lake tomorrow for a bit, but not any exciting weekend plans as of yet...don't worry I'll keep you posted :). We are heading out to California in two weeks and I'm super super super excited about that. Kaden and Matt are excited for Disneyland....I'm excited for yep you guessed it Target and Starbucks and of course family! :) Oh the thrill of Target!
Well I hear Matt coming in the door so I'm off to say hello. Hope you all are doing well...oh one final thought. I was helping my dad in his garden this evening and it hit me the uniquness of how God created each one of us. How each one of us has a wonderful thing that just makes us happy...for my dad gardening, for me running, for others...fill in the blank. God is so good that even in the midst of sorrow and pain there is joy...so enjoy being unique and rest in God's love for you.

Weekend Wedding

Chris was in the wedding party...he cleans up nice doesn't he!

Sorry it's been a while but you know how the days just get busy and slip away before you're even out of bed! :) This weekend we went to a wedding (so much fun, I love weddings) so we snapped a couple ( ok a lot of pictures but I'll spare you having to see all of them!) pictures. Kaden leaned over during the ceremony and said, "Papa, are they married yet?" So funny. He had a blast at the reception as it was outside and there was lots of room to run and pretty little girls to play with! :) He even had his own place card which he carried around all afternoon showing people that it had his name on it! He was so proud. It's so cute the things that amuse them.

Comments

ok so I'm still not able to post comments on everyone's site...basically the computer is slow or I get a comment written and then it won't load up....SO FRUSTRATING...so here goes. Jody-my email...and now everyone knows it :) thanks for adding me! :) Brooke-don't worry about Hope, she'll be fine. She's a beautiful little girl that God has designed just perfect. Kaden didn't crawl until the day after he learned to walk! Go figure! :) And I'm feeling good today...some days are better then others. thanks for asking. Julie- Your house is looking so awesome, I'm so impressed! Tell Derec good job! Beth-loved talking to you yesterday...and I still need to get around to reading other peoples blogs! Joan- I love reading about your day...sounds a lot like mine usually! :)
Ok, not sure if that's everybody but that's all I can think of right now! :)

Farm Day

Kaden had farm day at school today, and they let the parents come down and play too! And of course I forgot my camera, but we had a friend take one picture for us of Kaden being a cowboy! Too cute. They had goats (a very very very common animal in Del Rio!), a bull that we got to pet, a rooster named shrimp...go figure, and a horse which Kaden didn't want to ride ( which is fine since mommy is deathly allergic to horses!) So a fun but fast 20 min!

Caleb is finally over the roto virus! Praise the Lord~ It lasted about a week, so I'm glad that's behind us. As my friend Julie was saying, when your children are ill it makes you so grateful for the health that they have. There are so many sick babies out there, and I know that the Lord is holding those families in His hands, but it does put everything into perspective when you realize that the Lord calls us all to different trials, and so far I'm grateful that ours has not been sick babies (at least not for long). Ok that was a really really bad run-on sentence...don't check this thing for grammer! :) All right, hope everyone is having a good week...chat at you all later.

7 months

Ok to be cliche yet again...where has the time gone! Ok, so since I just took pictures of Caleb like two days ago, I thought I would just snap one of him sleeping...not a very good picture but I wasn't about to risk waking him up. He doesn't sleep a whole lot so this is a rare shot! :)

The doctors yesterday...well they were doctors. Dr. Sidiqi is awesome, very people oriented, and thinks outside the box. Dr. Masters...yeah...he's a doctor. So anyways, still no definite answers, I'm to stay on the medication and go back to see Dr. Masters in three months, hopefully things will continue to improve. I have to get some more blood work done...yeah...Oh well, God is in control and the rest is just details!

The sad news being I went all the way to San Antonio and didn't get to go to Starbucks or Target :( The timing just didn't work out and then I had my dad and Jeremy with me so I felt awkward dragging them through Target since I couldn't think of one thing I absolutly needed from there...the good news is I did get to stop at this little Coffee hut in Del Rio for the first time and it was awesome...so I'll have to visit there again soon! And we're planning on going to California for Easter, and you know I'll hit Target and Starbucks there at least five or six or seven times in the seven days that we're there! :)
